Touch Display Technology

Touch Display Technology

Early capacitance touch technologies exposed the device to damage and wear, due to the requirement to actually touch a conductive layer.  Now, we can cover the touch element with a layer of glass and the module will detect the projected electromagnetic field above the plane of the sensor. We have experience integrating each part to achieve the desired sensitivity.

In projected capacitive touch screens, there are two layers of conductors.  We separate the layers with a thin piece of glass, which is an insulator.   One technology that is used is an ITO (indium tin oxide) coating on the glass, which act as transparent conductors. The X and Y position can be sensed to activate the position of the touch.

Testing 100% of Products

Testing 100% of Products

Each TG3 product is rigorously tested before it leaves our production facilities to ensure it meets the highest quality standards. Both manual and automated testing are performed based on customer specifications. Very often due to the custom nature of many products, we are required to produce custom testing equipment and fixtures. Automated Optical Inspection is also used to test displays, where human error cannot be tolerated.

In today’s world of user interfaces, demand for touch surface interfaces continues to grow.  TG3 is an industry pioneer in bringing custom touch solutions to reality at all volumes. Whether it is plastic, metal, or glass we have experience in providing solutions. Plastics have more flexibility in geometries and surface treatments, while glass has unparalleled chemical resistance and superior aesthetics.  Resistive touch, capacitive touch, projected capacitive (PCAP) touch, inductive touch, and force touch can all be considered based on the application. TG3’s engineering staff will help guide you toward the best options in providing your solution.
